Winter REM, standing for Rotaract European Meeting, is arranged every year in the middle of January. This time Malmö and Copenhagen had the honour of hosting the event for 300+ Rotaractors from all over the world between 17th-20th of January 2019 - all spiced up with a touch of Viking in it.
The welcoming ceremony thursday evening was held at the Malmö town hall, which included dinner and mingle. The welcome party was held at Etage night club.
Some day activities to choose from during REM was: fermented herring tasting, mead tasting, Viking Experience, Building Bridges conference with panel discussions and speakers, plogging and guided tours around Malmö as well as Copenhagen.
The opening ceremony was held friday evening at Moriska Paviljongen, where the Country Booths also took place. Country booths is a gathering where participants can bring their national foods and souvenirs to share with fellow Rotaractors. In total there were 20+ country booths and lots of opportunity to get aquainted with new foods (and friends!). During the opening ceremony, vikings entered the venue with a fierce viking show. #thevikingsarehere
The weekend ended in a grandious fashion with a Gala Dinner at Scandic Triangeln Ballroom, including a three course dinner, dancing and a fire show. A perfect ending to a magnificent weekend, in other words!
Next year, Winter REM will be held in Lisboa-Portugal. See you there!
